About the event
Join us for Hiraethlon's inaugural writing class - "Inosculation: writing our parts together."
In this writing class, we will learn about "parts work," popularized by therapist, Richard C. Schwartz and his breakthrough therapy, Internal Family Systems. As new and/or veteran writers, we will:
- use writing prompts and discussion to investigate different parts of our identity - from hurt parts that other parts want to protect to silly parts that are hoping to play.
- invite new parts we are unfamiliar with to share with us their perspective.
- learn how to approach our parts with curiosity, empathy, and acceptance.
"Inosculation" means the grafting together of differnet parts to create a new entity. The word is used in plant and tree life. Here, we will consider what conversing with our many parts might look like through creative writing, poetry, and journaling.
IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE:
*** This class is a one-time offering. Spots are limited to 10 people so sign up today! If you refer a friend, you will receive half off the next $20 writing class offered.
*** I do not represent author Richard C. Schwartz's therapuetic modalities nor do I claim to use them. I take his theory of "parts work" and utilize that in my poetry teaching and writing.
*** You are welcome regardless of your financial circumstances. If you have the means, consider donating toward a scholarship and if you are in a place of need, please use the coupon code CARDINAL to receive a scholarship. Feel free to email me with any questions: lisamarie@hiraethlon.com
***Disclaimer: all creative offerings and writing groups under Hiraethlon are not a substitute for ongoing emotional health support. My groups are peer-run, which means I identify as someone needing the healing modality of writing as much as you do. I trust you, the participant, to have emotional supports in your life to utilize should you want to further explore what you experience during group.
